Tower Lowe get bravos from me for this great little story! The powers of description are extraordinary...describing scenes so I felt I was there--in the scenery and in the character's emotion. So entertaining I'm blown away; how can so much be accomplished in so little space? Talent. "In Zuni, Zymotic" continues Cinnamon's search for Momma, as well as introduces a new short mystery for she and Burro to solve. As each of these stories unwind, you begin to learn more about these characters, including the state of New Mexico, which almost seems like a character itself. I find myself wanting to take a trip there as soon as possible! As Cinnamon and Burro investigate, and ultimately resolve, this crime, you'll find yourself drawn more and more into their web of hypnotic mystery.

Before you read the rest of the books in the series you've gotta read this - Of course, it is #2 in the lineup.
What a delightful little book! I'll be sure to keep an eye out for more books in the New Mexico Chronicles from this talented writer.
I thought s/he was talking to an animal that talked back, took a couple of pages to figure out that "Burro" was human! The rest of the story seemed to be just as muddy. Perhaps an expanded version would contain more detail?
Did not realize it was a short story. Seemed to just get started and was over. Was really getting into story when it was over.
Zuni, Zymotic is the story of a Zuni man who dies on his front porch. It seems like an accident, but some of his family members and community members start saying he was murdered. Cinnamon and Burro know the man and they wander through the community using Burro's visions to try to figure out what in the world happened.
There are symbols from the community and lots of odd characters. This is a good quick read -- about the length of an airplane ride. I highly recommend it!
This short story is like a little novella and I really like it. I like that it takes place in New Mexico, because I live here and I recognize some of the characters are like people I've seen around here. This one is in Zuni, which is a very secretive place, I've heard. Anyway, a Zuni man dies and Cinnamon and Burro are friends who were helping him get time off work at the school because of his severe headaches. Some of the staff at the school don't like him or think they know who killed him. And Burro has these hallucinations that contradict what everyone is saying. Good story.
